I came to know Dr Barrie White just before surgery in the anaesthetic room where he introduced himself with a warm hand shake. Something about his look told me he is a good man who values people and he is also very good in his profession. He listened and did all he could for me for which I praise him and his team. My condition was increasingly worsening for the past few months and my family were witnessing my deterioration and my senses like shutting down. It was my first experience of undergoing a surgery and I was really scared about having a Burr Hole procedure. It was explained to me in such a reassuring and informative way that it gave me strength and optimism and thanks to the expert hands I came through so well that I felt back to 'normal' and so happy. Surprisingly, I stayed only 4 days at the QMC where I recovered well and was back with my family. I can't thank Dr B White enough for getting me out of the hell I was in.

Mr White operated on me to remove a spinal cord tumour (Schwannoma) in June 2010. Before surgery he explained everything in detail, giving all the risks involved, but could not have been more helpful. He changed his working hours in order to fit my operation in, was standing beside me when I came round from the anaesthetic to tell me it had gone well, and immediately called my husband to let him know. As far as I'm concerned Mr White is a wonderful man, who gave me my life back. His manner is friendly, but inspires complete confidence and is an excellent surgeon. I cannot praise him too highly.

I found the whole experience of surgery with Mr White as pleasant as its possible to get under the daunting circumstances of major surgery, Mr White and his team took great care to explain what was about to happen very well, both good and possibly bad were explained so the terror one feels is greatly reduced, and the touch of humour ie "We unzip you" explanation of operation then "Zip you up" was just right to take the tension out of the situation, anyone undergoing surgery with this Surgeon should ask any question, no matter how daft they think it is, and it will be explained with care and compassion. Excellent Service

I have recently had a tumour removed by Dr Barrie White and found him to be a caring, engaging and honest surgeon. I was very happy with the whole experience (as happy as one can be under the circumstances at least). I found Barrie White to be very professional, would answer all my questions and tell me exactly what the issues were. I found the way he telephoned my next of kin immediately after the operation very reassuring and also found the post operative bedside manner very welcome and professional. All in all, could not be happier with having this surgeon perform my operation.

I have a degenerative spine problem and mr white has operated on me 5 times and a further twice along side mr grevitt who is a spinal surgeon. i have continued to be under mr whites care for this ongoing problem.he always listens intently to what i have to say about how this effects me,and as and when the need to operate has arisen he is always prepared to discuss the ins and outs of each operation at great length, his bedside manner is exemplary. while recovering on the ward on all my times in queens medical centre i have been very impressed at the time he spends on the ward post op's talking to his patients,he is a most commited surgeon and would say to anyone whi is placed in his care by their GP that you could not be in better hands. this surgeon is not just a brilliant surgeon in my opinion he is also a very very caring individual. I am biased having been in his care for over 5 years now,but the man is brilliant in my humble opinion.
